This was a show set in a retail clothing store. There were several characters, but there was one specifically that turned into a manequin when a hat was put on him. Sound familiar to anyone?

Is it possible you mean the tv show My Favorite Martian, episode 96, "Martin the mannequin" ??

I think thats the one where he gets into trouble when a hat is put on him and he freezes, and Tim tries to get him out with nobody noticing?

It would have been the 1970s since I saw that last, HTH
