HD Receiver with DVR in Motor Home HELP!

I only have room for one RG6 cable going into my motorhome. It is connected to a HD Sat Antenna and HD Receiver. The HD Slimline Antenna is going thru a 4 X 8 switch. The receiver is receiving signal on Tuner 1 where the one cable is connected. On Tuner 2, I get a message (Searching for Signal) The #2 tuner is looking for signal. Can one take a spliter and feed both tuners with the one cable from the Sat antenna. I really don't care if I cannot receive HD. I just want to keep the receiver "alive" and possibly watch Regular Satellite TV on Tuner 1.
Because there is now no signal going to Tuner 2, I cannot get past the message (Looking for Signal).
Any thoughts would be appreciated
