Maya DVD-702 Disc tray opening Can't Post

Hi,

I have the above DVD player. When I insert a disc the tray keeps opening. If I close it, it will open again. If there no disc in the tray it will remain shut and display "no disc"

Any clues as to what it could be?

Thanks
Dave

some machines will open the tray if the laser is faulty and cannot read the disc.

I bought a DVD player on special for $35 as a spare. For any unit at all, to buy the laser mech the average is $65 but a JVC/Panasonic is listed at $195. Add in about an hours time to fix the thing, postage of bits, phone calls, workshop costs and where is the reason. I quote $40 to fix or fling, If its supply caps or belts etc its fixed otherwise its binned or they pick it up.
