How do I get rid of icons appearing on screen?	Can't Post

Hi am new to Direct TV and have a new HD TV. I searched the manual over and cannot find out how you would delete (get rid of), the station ID that appears at the bottom right of the screen? More so a bother is a banner sometimes appears like that TV show The Closer. I am so tired of seeing that girl appear eating a donut? Then the ad disappears. I don't want to be reminded of what is coming on at 9 p.m. Anyway to get rid of this?

The station Icons and the other info at the bottom is broadcast by the station. No way to get rid of it except to change channels.
