Just how good are aftermarket top-boxes? Can't Post

Hi there, i am interested in getting a decent set top box for sky digital (sony, panasonic etc) and was wondering if anyone has had experience with this type of upgrade. Sky seem to supply the bottom of the range box and the picture quality seems to be less than satisfactory. Will shelling out for a decent box solve this problem?

Thanks

'Don't wonder something you haven't tried'. Your question: 'Will shelling out for a decent box solve this problem? >what is the problem? Try it and come back.

There are two types of set top box standard and High definition, If you buy a standard box its as cheap as muck. A Hi def is more expensive. Then it comes to brand, did Fred make one and sell it as Freds HD box then rebadge it as Mr Bigs HD box at premium price. These are the things no one knows until they open the box. Example LG plasma TVs are rebadged and sold as Sony and Philips to name but 2. Buy what works for you and remember manufacturers sell what works for them.
