Philips 27pt533-No CVI Picture Can't Post

Conecting a Pace 5500 HD Cable box to Philips 27pt533 27" CRT TV, using component cables. Only see colored bars and snowlike pattern. When I put one of the component cables into the yellow video out on the TV, I DO get a picture, in B&W. Frown

I'd be thrilled and gracious for some insight Wink
Thanks,
Mike

Thanks, man. Is there any reason why? If the TV has the component inputs, shouldn't they work?
Thanks!

Back in the days when S-video developed. Foreign countries Challenged the separation of red, blue and green colors from S-video characteristics. I would say, that's seems to be same component we used today in HD world. unfortunately, that was'nt the case.your television is analog.

Make sure your Tv AND your cable box are set to 480i.
Anything else will produce scrambled pictures due to the refresh rates differing from what your TV can display.

The TV is probably only capable of SDTV over component and not HDTV over component.
Some TVs claim EDTV, which is only 480p. If your TV is EDTV, you can use the 480p setting on your cable box.

The tv is outputting 258 scan lines. It will not and cannot refresh or else it will turn blue. The tv is no way near EDTV.
