Looking to buy new tv Can't Post

Hey,

I'm pretty new in the HDTV game and the family are buyin a new tv and i wanna make sure we get a good future proof one. I have a couple in mind and was hoping you guys could advise me on it:

Samsung 40" LCD-TV LE40R71B

Sony Bravia 40" LCD-TV KDL-40U2000
http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=323830

Were looking to stay around the €1500 area so 1080p compatability isnt really an option here. Would you guys recommend either of these or is there something better I could get for that kind of money?

Thanks a mil,

either will give you a reasonable picture, but dont expect anything to be futureproof these days. most are obsolete in about 2-3 years either through lack of spare parts or excessive cost of repairs, so I would advise taking the extended warranty unless you have a bottomless pit of cash

techchris is correct there are no future proof sets .I also recommend getting an extended warranty.
Both are made by good companies, just pick the one you like the best and enjoy it.
