Recording from Digital TV Can't Post

Just purchased a SHARP LC32GD8E with digital tuner.
If I want to record a programe that is not terestrial ie UKTV etc can you record to a Vcr or dvd recorder from the tv?
Just wondering as looking to purchase a DVD Recorder with built in Hard drive. Will I need to get one with a and Integrated Digital TV Receceiver to record?

You can record from the digital domain from your lcd tv tuner ( slightly degraded ) dvd quality in a dvd recorder through copyrights unprotected device called SIMA CT-200 in S-VIDEO only. ( settings may require from your TV output signal as well) Same thing with Integrated receiver. But you can't copy the exact clarity of broadcasted HD signal.

to record digital channels on freeview its best to get a dvd recorder with a built in digibox otherwise on most digital tv's you can only record the channel you are watching

Most of those units do not have exteral AV inputs, so check that if you want to record from the TV.
