Smallest plasma with 1080i? Can't Post

I am about to buy my first plasma TV- in fact, my first new TV in 15 years, LOL!- and I'd like for whatever I get to be capable of TRULY showing HDTV signals of 1080i. However, I don't have a huge living room so I've been thinking about a 42" or (possibly) a 50" screen. I read somewhere that NO 42" plasma has a "Native Resolution" capable of, "showing true HDTV signals of 1080i."
Is this, in fact, true and (if so) what is the smallest screen that I will be able to view a 1080i signal? Can I get some manufacturer names/model numbers please?
I'm hoping to stay under $3000 and I'm planning to get a plasma HDV monitor and an external signal processor so that I can upgrade in the future.
Thanks for your help!
