sone grand wega will not work with HDMI

When i bought my 50" grand wega in july i hooked it up via the HDMI cable and the tv worked fine for a couple of months,and then the picture went bad....... i called sony's help line and they said the HDMI cable could have went bad, so i took out the HDMI cable and used the RCA jacks to hook up the TV and everything worked fine. yesterday i went and bought a new HDMI cable and hooked it up.....same problem.....the picture appears. but it's not clear, it's an out of focus color picture. the HDMI is being hooked up to a HR10-250 directv tivo box
