Maddening LG 42LB5D speaker crackle Can't Post

Recently our (several year old) LG 42LB5D speakers have been producing an irritating crackling noise (MUTE/VOLUME makes no difference). So today I researched the issue on-line and found several posts here and there where other folks are having the same problem. I was surprised at some of the suggested fixes from what seemed like both amateurs and professionals... stuff like "maybe you need to replace the power supply". to "Turn it off and back on' to 'reload the software'. Well, like most folks we NEVER use the internal speakers and also, like most folks, I know precious little about LCD (or any other kind of TV). But I do know how to use a screwdriver. So I removed the back cover (VERY EASY) just a few small screws and it pulls right off. I then disconnected the ground wire on each speaker, heat shrinked the connectors and put it back together. About a 20 minute job. Crackled gone. YES! <br>
