New LCD connection problems. Can't Post

So I just got a refurbed 37 inch Olevia LCD TV. I bought it to connect my computer and cable to. Well I can connect my computer through the VGA port just fine.

The problem comes when I try to connect the composite cables from the cable box to the television. When I try to connect them they spark and fizzle pretty violently. First time I have had anything like this happen. I tried different component cables and it did the same thing. It is pretty frightening and I really have no clue what the problem is.

Any help would be much appreciated, as I would like to avoid being shocked.

Littles! Part of the problem, don't you think the unit from being REFURBISH? do what you got to do, hope it's not too late to return it. did you acquire it from SECOND ACT?
