Shine a flashlight close to screen and look for any trace of video.

Make sure Inverter board(s) have:
1) B-Plus
2) blon (back light on, sometimes called enable).

First you would have to have tools to disassemble the back of the set from the front. Then you will need a DVM (Digital Volt Meter) and measure DC volts at the previous points I mentioned.

B-plus (12 to 24 volts usually) and blon (3 to 5 volts) hopefully will be labeled at one end or the other of the harness that arrives at the Inverter board. Both should come up (and stay up) when you turn the set on (B-plus may be present as soon as set is plugged in).

Got it, yes its been apart multiple times i do have a volt meter and will try this out tomorrow, i'll keep you posted if you dont mind. Do you think the easy answer from the repair guy was to simply say the panel is out, or are the two not related?

When you power it up with the back off, you should be able to see through various openings, whether the back lights are coming on at all.

IF your back light IS coming on (and staying on) then you "may" have a bad panel.

There is not worth for going to repair your TV in a warranty period they will just replace the part with the same "bad" capacitor so don't bother. It will just break down again in a few months. Just opened it and found the 2200mfd cap was swollen and leaking. There was also a 1200mfd cap swollen and leaking. I think you also can replace it or you can go to any repair guy for replaced them both with 50 working volts dc caps of the same capacitance, put it all back together, and it works great! Thanks
