Samsung ln40a630m1f won't respond to remote control or button press

Thanks in advance for any help on this. I have a Samsung ln40a630m1f that is out of warranty. A few months ago it started having trouble starting up (would have vertical lines and would sometimes screech and reboot multiple times before problems would disappear and it would work fine until the next time it was turned on.)
I found someone who claimed he could fix the mainboard and resolve this problem. I sent him the board and when he sent it back, I had a new problem.
The first time I plugged the tv in, it responded to the power button press (on the tv). Once it turned on, it did not respond to button presses on the tv or on the remote control. Now I can only turn it on or off by plugging it in or unplugging it.
I've double checked all the connections and tried another remote control as well. No response.
Anybody ever seen something like this?
