@chevy56, it might be a problem with the backlighting. I had the same problem a while back and it was the CCFL.

chevy56;...

We/I have no credentials on "tvtechboy"...
I do not work on these type of TVs , so I can not help you..
Wait for jts1957 , 74f100 or another expert to come along & give you some help...
Maybe even mel...
In my VERY limited knowledge of these , it does not sound like you have a CCFL problem...
They normally do not get better after "3 or 4 hours"....
IF anything , they get worse.....

Good Luck.....

All I know about this unit is that it's (supposedly) an LCD TV.

If you'll recall, I sent my (CRYSTAL!) ball out to be refurbished (Insert quick witted comeback here). Wink

Ron, do I need Ph.D. credentials to post in this forum? The guy posted July 23 and no one was noticing and I thought I'd provide a little input (on Aug. 2) to get him going in a direction based on my own experience. And then you notice him to say you can't help him just so you can one-up me? :)

That's one way to welcome a forum noob. ;)

Cheers, Ron! :)

tvtechboy;...

Your reply was positive & civil...
I appreciate that....

No , you don't need a PH.D here....
That's for "Doctor of Philosophy" which seems useless here...

I also based my reply (after yours) on my VERY limited experience with LED/LCD TVs...
However , I do have some experience with fluorescent bulbs....
Usually they do not get better after 3~4 hours...
I still stand by that statement....
They usually blacken at one or both ends when they fail....

That was NOT in ANY way meant to "one-up" you OR anyone else !!!!
I expressed my opinion just as you did yours...
Yours just happened to be ahead of mine....

When I said:..

I do not work on these type of TVs , so I can not help you..

I leveled with him (chevy56) , so he'd know exactly where I am coming from & not like some of these other posters who can't spell technician & say "now i are one"...

Since you are a "noob" , your knowledge & electronic experience IS unknown...
Unlike that of jts1957 , mel & 74f100 , to mention a few...
Your avatar name means squat to me...
It may carry some credibility...
Mind you , I'm NOT asking for a resume from you...
I just brought out a thought that I thought should be considered by chevy56....
It was/is NOT anything derogatory or a put-down in ANY WAY !!!!..

That said;....

"Noobs" etc ARE welcome here to post & hopefully give decent advice to the OPs & help solve their problem...INCLUDING you !!!!

BTW:....
chevy56 did NOT post a model number , so we do not know if he even has CCFLs in his TV !!!!

Have a GREAT day & weekend....Smile..Smile..Smile...

normally I would check the supply voltage to the invertor pcb, as if this low, the ccfl lamps don't light fully

Re: [leonard085] half screen darker on one side [In reply to] Can't Post

I have heard that Basically the left half of the screen looks darkened with a reddish tint, and the pixels in the dark area seem to refresh really-really slowly, creating an ultra smearing effect.

At first when this problem began, it could quickly be fixed by simply holding on to the upper left and right corners of the TV and lightly flexing the bezel. This would cause the picture to come back and would only need to be done maybe once a day.

Now - the TV is not longer responding this is and the picture is permanently darkened on the left side.

Thanks

I can't see it. Is it new-fangled invisible process (where do I obtain the special glasses needed)?

Or maybe I've gone blind.Mad
