Intermittent Horizontal Line and Blurring/Smudging Panasonic TH-50PE700U

I have a TH-50PE700U that was purchased in 2007. Infrequently, it gets a horizontal line across the whole screen, and or a small blur or smudge just in the very center, probably about the size of a small post-it note. They only last for a minute or so and then disappear. Ninety-nine percent of the time the picture is fine. The TV gets pretty heavy use, probably 10-12 hours a day Thoughts on what this might be caused by and it if will continue to get worse. At 14 years old, I assume we will have to get a new TV someday and I kind of fear getting a non-plasma.
