PANASONIC TH-42PHD8UK fade to black

Hi, all, first post here. I'd like to save my 14 year old Panasonic TH-42PHD8UK plasma monitor if possible. It starts fine but after 2 or 3 minutes it quickly fades to black. I thought I was seeing vertical lines so I replaced the t-con board, but that didn't help. It still starts fine but then the screen dissolves to black after a few minutes. The power stays on although I think the monitors light switches from Green to red so maybe that's a clue. The HDMI port has always been loose but that shouldn't matter, right? It's not the cable since I tested it on another monitor.
