A solid black vertical line (about 2 inches thick) appeared almost in the middle of my plasma TV. It is a sinotec (basically Samsung) 42inch TV. What is the cause of this and can it be repaired? Oh, and the warranty expired a few months ago!

Check your ribbon connectors coming off of the logic board to your lower address boards. Also with the set on stick a piece of tape where the black bar is, then with the back off and set turned off check the corrosponding ribbon connector to where the black bar is. If no fix, then replace the lower address board. If no fix, then bad panel.
