Plasma for gaming? Can't Post

from what ive heard burn in is basically a thing of the past, as long as you break it in properly over the first 100-200 hours. so if im looking for an HDTV for mostly gaming should i probly go with a plasma? if so what are good brands of plasmas to get? ive heard that Pioneer, Panasonic and Samsung are all pretty good to go with

Sony has stopped making plasmas. This may hint at something.

Sony's not making Beta VCRs any more either. There wasn't anything wrong with them. Picture and sound quality was better than VHS.

Perhaps they have some industry insight as to the future of Plasma?

so you are saying that u think plasma is on the way out...because if the rest follow, and sony isnt making plasma anymore, then no one else will and therfore plasma will no longer be on the market

No major issues here, been running a 360 on Panny 42px60 for about a year now. Image retention/screen burn is a non-issue for me, when first got it I did worry becasue I had read too much on here! Now I dont even think about it, I have occasionally seen retention, but you have to look for it and it dissapears under normal viewing.

The only issue I have with plasma, is green tinge/smearing. I'm sure a search will reveal more about it, but essentially its when a dark colour turns to a light colour the green phosphor has the longest decay time, meaning you see a green trail following a dark object moving over a light background. In normal viewing I seldom notice the effect, but in gaming it is more noticebale. This is especially true in games with high contrast and fast movement such as gears of war.

I would like to suggest you to go with the Panasonic S1 or G10 plasma for gaming purpose.

Ya, you really dont have to worry about burn-in since the mid-90's. Plasma television has smoother motions and our cheaper. Samsung is the best brand of the 3 that you mentioned....
