Question about "sound out"on my new pn-58c8000	Can't Post

Hi there, this may be a noob question, but i was wondering regardless. I have an older reciever its a kenwood 5.1. It has no hdmi in's. I was wondering if i plug all of my tv components directly to my my tv via hdmi, and then run the tv optics out to my reciever, will i be hearing dolby 5.1 or just stereo? I have heard some tv optic outs do not put out true 5.1 sound...Could somebody help me out please! Cool

My tv should be arriving this week, so i have not been able to just try things out..

only left/right stereo from red/white audio sockets,but optical socket should carry digital audio, assuming the kenwood has optical input.
