Arcing from suction cup (red wire) on Sony 43" Can't Post

After getting an estimate for $775 to fix 3 leaking picture tubes on my 43" Sony, I just decided to take the tv apart myself and look into it further. Upon removal of the screen, I found the source of the arcing to be coming from the large red wire with the "suction cup" coming out of one of the picture tube guns. When I turn the tv on, I could see a blue colored light coming from underneath the suction cup and it makes a hissing/squeeling sound. There are a couple of pin holes in the suction cup where it arcs out of every few seconds or so. This tv is only 3 years old and I peeled back the suction cup to look at the connection on the red wire and I don't see any dirt or grime in there at all. Is the picture tube coolant up inside where the connector for the red wire is....could it be leaking internally onto the connection inside? Somebody help me with this, I'm so close to knowing the fate of my tv. Thanks

Model # is KP-43T70

This is kinda a uncommon problem but it does happen.
The suction cup you describe is called the anode conection , this is where the 25000 to 36000 volts enter the Pix tube. un plug the set, wait a few min. then carefuly remove this lead with out tearing it, scape off as much as the sealent as possible, then notice how this attaches, it will have a metal conection that fit into a hole in the crt, get some pure silicone sealent ( 100% silicone from the old hardware store ) and aplay about a 1/2 inch bead around this hole in the crt, now make sure these conections are together and the meatle thing locks in the hole, the whole projects a mess but you should wind up with the cup full of silicone and some squished around the out side as well. Now let this dry for at least a day, silicone is conductive till it dries.
Since this will be messy you might want to do all three and get it over with, the two most inportant things, the metal end must be inside the hole, and the cup must be full of silicone
