This is an old post, so I don't know if you ever fixed the problem. But I have a service manual shop, and I have the complete manual from Hitachi for this model for sale in my store, for $12.95, it lists the procedure for doing the convergence right, plus it show the Remote that came with that set. I repaired TV's for over 45yr, and I did Hitachi Warranty for Hitachi for many years, I can tell you this, I used the same remote to do all there Projection TV's in that series, if the customer didn't have one. There are 2 different steps to setting up the Convergence, 1. in normal Mode. 2 in High Definition Mode. You really need to do both to get it set up right. I have been retired for a few years now. I opened up this store years ago because I have so many Service Manuals, all in PDF. And a lot on Paper too. I will say this if you don't have a PIP Mode button, you don't have the remote that came with the set. You need the PIP Mode button to write the new settings to ROM, When convergence is acceptable, press PIP MODE to write data to ROM memory. ROM WRITE? is displayed to alarm system that ROM will be overwritten with new data. Press the PIP MODE button again to write displayed data to ROM. DATA WRITE TO ROM will take approximately 4 seconds and no picture will be displayed. Green dots will be displayed when operation is completed. Press MUTE to return to convergence pattern, then confirm again convergence is acceptable. and you turn the TV off, than back on. Then go back in and check your adjustments, if everything looks good then hit the Pip channel to initialize the set to the new adjustments. Another thing, according to the service manual for this set it should have a "Magic Focus" button on the front panel. There should be a "Magic Focus" setting in the Menu under Convergence also. But the Magic Focus button won't do you any good if the focus has been changes. The Initialize button sets the Magic Focus to what you have written to ROM. Hope that helps anyone else that is having this problem. Michael
