Hitachi projection set model 50SX5P Can't Post

When the power button is pushed there is a clicking noise, this is normal, however, the tv does not come on. The technician stated that the high voltage relay was cutting out but he was not sure why.

Is there a way to tell why, and what part needs to be replaced to solve the problem. The TV is a excellent piece of furniture and had an excellent picture until this problem. Please help.

As with most modern set they incorparte several protection devices

Your Hitachi could have one of these

If vertical in not preasent

over current draw on high voltage

32 volt line is shorted either because of audio or convergance Ic's

Or the B+ regulator has gone bye bye

But most of these sets that I have seen is cause by one or both of the convergance Ic's shorting and not takeing the fuse, this will shut the set down.

Not at the shop right now so I can not drag up the sckamtic there is a way either to lift a fuse or cut a lead to stop power to thse Ic's then if the set fires up with a distorted PIX and has audio we have located yore problem
