If replacements also fizzle, either audio output or convergence ICs are best suspects.

Replaced R520 and R522. I can get pretty much perfect convergence but I can't get any image. I've tried on both cable inputs and the 3 video inputs and I can't get anything. What could this problem be? Thanks for your unending help

With so many problems being traced back to this set's power supply. I'd start there. Measure all voltages, especially those to signal board.Smile

No audio either?

The audio is fine but I just can't get a picture from the cable or composite inputs. I haven't tried the component but I assume they are not working also. I will be checking the supplies again. I can hear the audio, change channels, and look at the menus on the TV but just can't get any actual picture to show. Thanks

I'm assuming you can change inputs?

Yes, sorry, I can also cycle throught the inputs and get good audio on all of them, just the picture doesn't appear. Last night after work I just probed the power supply again and the 5V on the main board isn't there, it's at about 2.5V and coming into the 7805 is only 4.1V. I'm suspecting that R947 is damaged because the other leg of R947 has close to 12V.

I just had a few seconds and I pulled IC932 and R947. R947 measured 12ohms and I hooked IC932 up to a power supply and when given 12V it pumped out 5V. What would you replace? I'm assuming R947 because it had 12V on the "incoming" leg and only 4.1V on the leg supplying IC932. I also put them back in circuit, left the "incoming" leg out, injected 12V and 5V came out of IC932. I'm at a loss. Could the part still be bad under load?

Or something on output pin is pulling it down.
Does IC932 get excessively hot? What happens if you sub your power supply for 5 volts.

Bear in mind that there are quite a few 3-legged regulators in this set. Check input and output voltages on them. Any that prove bad, you may want to change input & output filter capacitors.

Edit: That 5 volts goes to many places including video, PIP, even back to FS board. So there's a pretty good chance that's it. If your power supply voltage is also pulled down, measure resistance to ground, if less than few hundred ohms - "follow the short."

Re: [jts1957] Mitsubishi VS-45603 Will not turn on [In reply to] Can't Post

So, I found out that it was the 5V XDYC line that was pulling IC932, the 5V regulator, down. There was a 5 ohm load from power to ground on that supply. I pulled IC2C01 and there is now the load is only in the 4K range. I measured and across VCC to VDD on the IC and there is 185ohms. I'm not sure where my 5 ohm load went but since there is a low ohm load I know IC20C01 is bad. Now, my problem is that I can't find a good source for the IC. Would you know of any suppliers for a TC90A13F?

Edit: There is a 3 ohm short on VSS3 and VDD3 of the TC90A13F

Re: [jts1957] Mitsubishi VS-45603 Will not turn on [In reply to] Can't Post

Alright, I obtained a new TC90A13F and have it installed. Now I turn the TV on and there is a purpleish screen and it makes a sort of buzzing, squeaking sound. It stays on that for a minute and then shuts it's self off. I can turn it on and off as many times as I want. I've tried to see if it is a tube buy unplugging each of the tubes and I haven't found anything. This "fix" proved to be backward because once I found out that the IC above was shorted, I removed it and re-installed the signal board. After the IC was removed, the TV started up normally and I was able to perform convergence. Now that I have the new part in, I'm able to start up but I can't get any farther. Please help me get this thing fixed I'm tired of looking at it!

Does it show video/chroma on various inputs? (If no, you could have it installed backwards? or could have changed one bad IC for another?)

I have not tried other inputs yet. Once I get home, I will try changing inputs and getting into the menu.

I can't switch inputs or get into the menu. I suppose I will go one step back and pull the new IC back off and see if I messed anything else up.

I was just troubleshooting and I unplugged the RM connector from the signal board. It now stays on but there still isn't response with changing inputs or getting into the menu and the screen is purpleish with vertical blue and red line sine waves.

I have all the volatages. I have checked
+35V stereo
+24V
-24V
+130
+230
+34V
+32VS
+12V
+a5V
+5VS
I can turn it on and off but the screen will not progress. I also pulled the "new" IC back off and now I still have the problem.

Almost looks like screen control(s) are too high.
While the IC was removed, the brightness of the raster (I'm presuming was normal, no color or "sine waves.") and or whatever was used for convergence was at acceptable levels (not excessive), and as far as you're aware it still is?

If so, I'd still suspect that same IC. Measure (and/or post) the voltages on each pin and compare with schematic.

So, those pictures and video are of it without the IC in. I now have the IC in and it does the same thing. Also, are there particular signals that I should be looking at? The IC is on the bottom of the board and not accessable from the top. I will run wires to the pins if needed. If I can't get this going, do you know anybody in the Madison,WI area that would want it?

Re: [Hazardsneon] Mitsubishi VS-45603 Will not turn on [In reply to] Can't Post

Last night I measured as much as I could on top of the board. All of the voltages I measured were correct except on connector RM. I wasn't able to get to the connector without having the harness that plugs into RM unplugged, so I made the measurements without it plugged in. I measured about 2.3V where it should be 10.7V on the collectors of Q2W80, Q2W81, Q2W82. Not to mention when I have RM unplugged the TV stays on, it still doesn't display a valid picture but I stays on.
