Need help with "Digital Picture"

I just purchased a Philips 30PW6341/37 which so far is really assume. This is not an HD TV, but widescreen flat. I didn't really want to get HD, but did want to watch my DVD's with the high resolution digital quality, that this TV is suppossed to have.
However, the Digitial quality feature is labeled as "demo mode". When I turn it on, only the right half of the picture has the high resolution quality. the left half of the split screen remains standard.
Can someone please tell me now to get the high qulality on both halves of the screen?
