Prehistor;...

Well , it's been 10 days since you last posted...
You should've gotten the convergence ICs in & up & running by now...

Any reason for not replying ??? ..

Yes , the coolant is actually "Ethylene Glycol'..
Make sure that the stuff you got is CRYSTAL CLEAR ...

Hope you had a safe , sane & sober 4th of July....Wink..

A little off topic but I used to work on rptv's and was told by a previous shop I worked at by the owner that you could use mineral oil instead of normal coolant. Just curious if anyone else has ever heard of that?

NEVER , NEVER , NEVER use mineral oil or baby oil instead of Ethylene Glycol as CRT cooloant...

NEVER !!! ...

This topic was covered long ago & mineral oil was blown out the door...

For starters see this post;=>..
http://www.tv-forums.com/...cgi?post=95727#95727

I personally changed coolant in 100s of CRTs & would NEVER use anything but Ethylene Glycol...
The contamination in the original coolant (Made for Mag/Philips) was due to bad processing...
Mineral oil would enhance any contaminent..

BTW;...
Please send me a PM...
I have something to ask you off the record..
I tried to contact you at http://www.atlanticav.net
& left 2 or 3 messages , but you did NOT bother to reply...Unsure..

From post #5;=>..

in fact i have already bought the Ic`s and resistors and the coolant, just in case.

This was on JUNE 15th !!!

From post #8;=..

Did you get generic ICs OR REAL SANYO replacement ICs ???
&
i have already bought the Ic`s and resistors

From post #9;=>..

I got the STK 392-120, not higher (the exact ic`s that i have installed right now), and they are the originals from sanyo, and it isn`t the kit, i bought the stuff from different places.

From post #20;=>..

Update: I bought all the resistors that i need and i will change them all just in case.

I do not like liars !!!
There's conflicting statements from you concerning the resistors & the ICs...

1st things 1st;...
They are NOT GENUINE Sanyo ICs...
They ARE GENERIC KNOCKOFFS that WILL give you trouble !!!
So do NOT waste your time installing them !!!
STOP the shipment or IMMEDIATELY SEND THEM BACK...

Try eBay for REAL SANYO ICs...PERIOD !!!

Hi Ron !

The ICs are from China, and i talked to the seller, he said they were originals from sanyo. Shipment is a little too slow :S.

The resistors i got them from a local store.

i`ll wait until they are here and see what they look like, and then if not original i`ll buy another ones from eBay.

I would not lie about this things, there is no reason.

Thanks!

The seller IS LYING !!!
Sanyo ICs are NOT made in CHINA !!!..
You will NOT see "Sanyo" on those ICs..
Even the Sanyo ICs I'll find for you do not have "Sanyo" printed on the ICs..
I STRONGLY suggest you find a way to STOP the shipment & get your money back !!!

Quote
Shipment is a little too slow

I think you are being scammed as you alledgedly bought the ICs about June 15th & they are STILL not here...
That's OVER 3 weeks...
For your own good , STOP payment on those ICs...
I will be back later with some true sources for those ICs...

Same seller , but includes Heatsink compound;=>..

The links do NOT go to the ones I recommended !!!
You apparently ordered 4 ICs ...
2 from the USA & 2 from Australia...
So another bit of misinformation !!!
TOO much time lapsed between Jul 9, 2014, & Aug 28, 2014, & when you got the ICs...
It doesn't take 6 weeks to get ICs from the USA OR Australia...
Methinks you are using Chinese ICs..

But , as I've said many times before...
It's your TV...
It's your money..
It's your call...

With all due respect...
I was born at night , but NOT last night...
I suspect you are being less than truthful & will not deal with someone that is...
This is NOT "drama" but a matter of getting accurate information & responding to that info...
It is NOT stupid to be wary of bad info...

I wish you well on the TV repair , but , I am done here....

Have a nice day & weekend...

Don't let this Ron guy discouraged you. He likes to knock inexperienced tecks down. He also has a problem with Asians that's why he doesn't use Chinese ic s.
I am a laser tech supervisor and we use Chinese components also. Just don't listen to this guy.

Prehistor;....

First things first...

I commend you...
You apparently did a GREAT job changing the coolant...
Pix on the TV & in the thread look GREAT..
However , IF you used "Chinese ICs" in your TV , problems WILL show up SOONER rather than later...
Guaranteed !!!
Any self respecting tecH will tell you NOT to use Chinese Convergence ICs...PERIOD!!!..
Don't just take MY word for it...
Go to Google here & check it for yourself..
https://www.google.com/...p..7.0.0.8eZBYNLsFAQ
About 3,210,000 results !!!

OR here;=>..
https://www.google.com/...=2&oq=&gs_l=
About 3,180,000 results !!!

Gussie Girl ...
Put those in your pipe & smoke it !!!
Any more cute comments about "Asians ""...
RACIST!!!

As for "Gussie Girl;...
He is a purported "Laser tecH " that thinks he is a brilliant TV tech which most readers here do NOT take seriously...
His advice is akin to a bad case of DIARRHEA...
Soon after one squirt of bad advice , along comes another...
He & I are mortal enemies..

Quote
I am a laser tech supervisor and we use Chinese components also.

IF his company is using Chinese Knockoff counterfeit components , I wouldn't buy a dam thing from his company..
I can only image what kind of crap they are making...

So , I suggest you ignore him as he IS a malinformed troublemaker...
You can listen to me OR other QUALIFIED TV techs here or take your chances with a alledged Laser tech wannabe TV tech...
Either way , it's no skin off my nose..
As I said before;...
It's your TV...
It's your money..
It's your call...

Enjoy your TV....
