Philips projection TV 43PP8420 Wont turn on

When I plug in my 43" Projection TV (Philips 43PP8420) it goes into standby mode and thats fine, but when I turn the TV on I dont get any picture but a pulsing beep sound (which I think is some kind of a warning signal) from the power supply area. This happened after a power outage. I want to clear things out a bit, before I pay a visit to my local Philips agent. Can anyone please tell me what has gone wrong? I want to know the magnitude of the problem as I dont want to spend a fortune on a repair....any help would be greatly appriciated.
