Pioneer SD-P5183 Convergence board dead

This set had the famous bowing-in-the-red during convergence setup. I inherited it from a former tech who had replaced both STK power amplifiers all with no luck. I finally just replaced the whole convergence board. While the bow in the red is gone, the board is dead and will not respond to any adjustments (other than the manual set up for the green using the pots). Adjustments are made with the remote but although the OSD registers the commands from the remote, the convergence board will not respond. Any ideas? Could it be the memory chip?
