Projection Picture problems Can't Post

Hi everyone!

I'm new to this forum and from what I have read so far the help been given in this forum is excellent. I'm hoping that I'll be lucky enough to resolve my problem.

I stumble to this web site because I was looking for information on a Magnavox projection TV.
Not knowing what to expect in the internet I search PTV730/735/740/745 which is the component location of the Magnavox projection TV and here I'm .

The problems I have in this TV are as follow:
Halo around images, Blue color is almost not noticeable, color shift, and the picture is squeeze in on the sides of the TV.

From what I read in this forum I can see that one problem maybe contaminated coolant (which I have to verify) and the mist alignment of the colors but the one that I do not have any idea is the squeezing of the picture on the sides of the TV.
I'll appreciate any help and I thank you in advance.
Is for a good cause. The TV belong to an old couple that live next to my house.

gervey,
i am not expert. but my guess is it has to do something with projection thing. its not projecting rays in proper way.
a picture will help. coolant only makes the picture crisp and sorts our haze pic quality. may be the direction of the CRT bulb got aligned due to vibrant movement.

Thanks dundee for your response. maybe I didn't use better words to describe the picture. I should it said the picture bows in both sides of the screen. I was trying to find out if the convergence IC when they go bad besides introducing a 3 effect on the picture (color separation) will also produce bowing of the picture vertically and horizontally.
again thank for your comments and help

Since you are admittedly not an expert , you really shouldn't be putting up "off the wall" theories as to what the problem is...
That would be like you , me or gervey doing brain surgery....
Short & sweet;=>...IF you can't "walk the walk" , do NOT "talk the talk".....

Coolant does NOT "make" the pix crisp...
It keeps the face of the CRT "cool" so it doesn't overheat & crack causing dammage to the set while allowing transfer of the image thru the lens to the screen....
Hence the name "Coolant"....
Nuff said....Right ????

gervey;.....

On this forum (And others) for some reason you can not copy pix directly from your computer to post....Unsure....
What I & I suspect others are doing is to upload the pix to:...

http://register.photobucket.com/step1

OR;...

http://imageshack.us/

And then copying & pasting the pix to the post....
Both are FREE & easy to use once you get the hang of it....Wink....
If you need help with either site , post & I'll be happy to help you out....

jts1957;.....

What I REALLY want this guy to do is POST PIX !!!!
NOT LINKS !!!!...
Pix are a lot easier for readers as you dont have to wait for a new window to open & load , etc , etc....

THANK you anyway for the GOOD info....

gervey;.....

Here is some info on how to use photobucket;=>....

Upload your pix....
When it's uploaded (Use jpg or jpeg format) , scroll down & click on "save"...
Then wait for the image to show up at "In this Album" & click on "Edit" that's on top left of the pix you uploaded....
That will then load into a new window...Wait for it....
After it's loaded , check to see if the size of the image is right for the forum.....
The size you see is what it may be on the forum...
If it's too small , click where the red arrow is.....
There will be some size adjustment sliders you can use to make the image larger or smaller...
The green/blue arrow is how you got this pix.....
Then you'll see "Replace Original"....
If you made any size changes click on "Replace Original"....
Then you'll get a screen that says your "default album" with the pix you uploaded....
Just right click your mouse over the pix & click on "copy".....
Then go to the forum reply post you are making & right click where you want the pix & click on "paste"....
See how easy that was ????....Wink.....Sly....
Double check how it looks by clicking on "Preview Post" at the bottom of the reply box....
Practice & experiment & you'll eventually get the hang of it....
Remember to ALWAYS "Preview Post" to see how it will look in the thread after you post it.....

If you still have problems , let me know exactly which step is giving you trouble....

ALSO;....
This "may" have been caused by clicking on "Switch to Basic Editor" before you posted this;=>....
(I edited most of the gibberish.)

Using Photobucket, you want to cut and past the IMG Code.

Then you'll get this;

shelbydogg;......

Thanks for that GREAT info....Wink....

But....(There's always a "but")....
I've discovered that when you use links from photobucket OR image & delete the pix at photobucket or image , the pix disappears from your post !!!!....
I believe (I could be wrong) that by copying & pasting , that little bug does not appear.....
I don't like a lot of clutter on my photobucket or image albums , so when I feel the image has outlived it's usefulness , I tend to delete them....
Let's experiment.....Wink.....
The image below is what I got when I deleted an image...

Posted with copy & paste....(My method)

Now your method (IMG Code);....

I will leave these images alone till after the time says about 4~5 hours later than what it says in the avatar box....
Right now it says;....June,9,2010 9:00 PM
So it will read about June,10,2010 1:00 AM when I delete the image....
See ya then....I'll re-post at that time....
Then I will go back to photobucket & delete the image there & see what happens here....
Fun , ain't it ????....Wink.....

Ok gentlemen, one little detail .... you should use Explorer as your browser .... it doesn't work with Mozilla FireFox browser....
anyway.... here are the pic

I hope they are enougth to show the problem. I opened the front of the TV and I look inside the CRTs and the blue and green are dirty not the red.... Now Iknow that I have to change the coolant but how do I dispose of the old coolant?

NO they're NOT !!!!....You have a 54" TV that you shrunk down to a few inches here....
Enlarge it....
But , PLEASE do not go from the size of a postage stamp to the size of Rhode Island !!!!.....Wink...

Remember this ???;=>.....

Not knowing where you live , I have no clue....
IF you live near the Gulf Coast , you could sneak it in with "BP" oil...
I don't think anyone would notice ....Wink.....

We solve the TV picture problem first , then do the coolant....OK....Sly....

Re: [Ron.M] Projection Picture problems [In reply to] Can't Post

I answer quite a few tech questions in some automotive muscle car forums. I've been doing it since '05. I photobucket certain albums that I never move or delete out of so that my tech pictures won't disappear. They are still there and still show up in my old replies.
I didn't see a difference between your image and mine. They were both gone.
