Question About Delta bulbs.

I have two Projection tv's, one i wish to repair and the other i picked up for free for donor parts. The one that needs repair tends to cast a blue shadow on everything, im fairly sure this has to do with the blue bulb, i cannot align this up any better, i was told its because the filmit of the bulb strightend out. the tv uses Delta 40 bulbs, i happen to from the other tv have delta 78 bulbs, would they work in the delta 40's place?
