Tried replacing Lamp? Does the color wheel spin? Could be ballast.

Amazing how much info people leave out of their 1st post. Do I take it that you are a technician and know about defeating door switch? What about ballast? Bulged cap? Voltage?

I am not a tec, thats why I am here. I dont know which systems could be related to this problem. Yes I have the switch locked in the door closed position. I dont have much in test equipment, just a household 110, 220 tester. i could go get a volt meter if needed. what should I check. before the lamp quit liteing all together, the tv started freezeing, and i would have to turn it off. sometimes it would go hours and sometimes minutes. thanks, garry

What about ballast (another high failure item)? Bulged cap (on ballast)? Voltage (into ballast - yes you will need a meter)?
What were the front panel indicator lights doing for the first failure; what are they indicating with this failure?

indicator lights, red light would come on when having trouble. this time the red light came on when the tv froze. now the green light is blinking, the unit clicks off for a few seconds and come back on. the fans in back are running

Check the ballast for 380v at the large connector (normally when something is wrong this voltage will be low). the other voltage to the ballast is 5v (a small connector to the ballast on the side).

P.S. have had more than one unit that have been "parts trains," at least two parts bad, sometimes more.

You never responded to: Is the big capacitor on the ballast bulged or looks O.K.?

Found this posted on another site:

I am having a similar problem with my TV. It worked fine one day, then next day would not turn on. Bought and installed new bulb, but still the Temp and Lamp lights slow blink. It takes about 5-10 minutes for these 2 lights to even come on. Any ideas or re-set procedures to try? Thank You, C
