Sony KP 57 hw 40 problem	Can't Post

Our Sony went out the other day. Turned it on, screen was blue, faded to black and went off in like 10 seconds. Front light by power button is flashing 8 times. Is this fixable or is it even worth it. Had a great picture still after all these years but I'm told they are too expensive to fix.
