robertlanham79;..... """"Ron.m I see your replies on alot of the questions here, i ask the u please look at my inquiry here on april 4th, please give me any kind of feed back. Thank you very much."""" I'll try my best........ 1st , let's clear up a few things.... You said:=>.."""I had no business messing with those adjustments,"""" 100% correct......... """but that is done over with """ NOT neccessarily........ """I would like to know if there is any way to adjust the color dials inside the tv so I could determine if (based on reading some of these forums) the bulbs or the coolant needs replacing."""" Those adjustments are NOT the way to check the coolant.... You'll be happy to know that the CRTs (bulbs) used in the older Magnavox projection TVs were of GOOD quality & last a long time.... So the odds of you haveing a bad CRT is VERT slim.... More than likely , it's a coolant problem.... IF you had just read the post ahead of the request you made in "badgereye's" thread , the info to check the condition of CRT coolant is there........ Link;=>... http://www.tv-forums.com/...cgi?post=68967#68967 Scroll down past the pix & you'll see it..... Here it is modified for your use;=>.... To verify your coolant is bad , do the following;=>... What you need to do is remove the front screen assembly.... If you need info as to how to safely remove the screen, post back & I'll help as best as I can.... After you have the screen off the TV , turn it on... Look directly first into the red CRT lens assembly at the face of the tube where the picture should be.... Kinda creep up on it as the pix WILL be bright & you need time for your eyes to adjust... You should see a clear , sharp & focused picture.... Next , look into the green CRT lens assembly.... There you "may" see a bit of contamination in the coolant.... You should see a picture there , but probably not as good as the red.... Now look into the blue CRT lens assembly.... I'll bet that one is a mess....Cloudy & a lot of junk in there... A LOT of contamination & the pix will be hard to make out.... IF that is the case , then what you need is a coolant change... IF they are fairly clear pix on ALL 3 CRTs , then you may have a different problem.... Let me/us know what you find....OK.... Three questions;=>... #1=How much electronic/TV repair background experience do you have ????...<<<VERY IMPORTANT you answer this one HONESTLY !!!... #2=Just out of curiousity , what part of the world do you live in ????... You don't have to answer this one if you don't want to.... #3=Are you able to take & post pix in case we need them ???? Have a Very Happy Easter , IF you so choose........ Later...Ron.M........
