GE 46" projection tv snow Can't Post

I have a 46" GE projection TV. It will all at once go snowy and then it might go back to normal. Sometimes a hit on the top or side of the TV will make it work again. Also turning the power off and on several time in a row sometimes works. I don't have the money to take it to a repair shop not to mention it is very heavy to move alone. can someone please help me and maybe i can fix it myself? It seems like it may be a loose wire or something i just don't know. Thanks

sounds like a bad soldering connection in the tuner, there is a silver box in the middle back part of the chassis, look at the soldering connections in the box (from underneath the chassis) the ground posts all around the tuner have been known to lose their connections. i'ld take a magnifyer of at least 4x (avail at any craft store) and see if the tuner has any bad soldering connections.
