My guess is you have a bad upper or lower buffer board. These will be the 2 long narrow boards farthest to the left when looking in from the back. If you disconnect these boards (only one of these boards at a time) & try the TV, & if it powers on with only half of a picture (top half or bottom half) then that will be the bad board. It's common for the upper buffer board to fail before the lower so I'd remove it first, if that doesn't work then reconnect the upper & disconnect the lower buffer & try the TV again. For your test, you only need to disconnect the buffer board from the Ysus board & you don't need to disconnect all the flat ribbons going to the plasma screen at this time; just be very careful not to tear any of those flat ribbons or the TV will be ruined. The buffer board will unplug from the Ysus board & that plug is usually pretty tight so you may need to pry it apart (pry gently being careful to not tear those ribbons leading to the panel) Once you know the board is bad then you can disconnect the flat ribbons & order a new board. If you are concerned about accidentally tearing one of the flat ribbon cables & you'd feel more comfortable disconnecting them while removing the boards, then go ahead, it's just that some people have trouble reinserting these cables straight & getting them clamped back in their sockets & this causes other problems. If you go to YouTube & type in 'Hitachi p50s601' you see videos of other people with similar problems, this might give you a few pointers. The most common problem with your model of TV is bad upper or lower buffer board but this may not be the buffers at all & could be a problem with the power supply & once again I noticed a few videos on YouTube showing common power supply problems with that model of TV. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ If you (or anyone reading this post) have any further questions or need clarification please feel free to contact me direct; you can find my email address by clicking on my user-name.
