LG 47LH85, Thin Black Horizontal Lines, Then Went White LG 47" 1080p 120Hz Wireless LCD HDTV 47LH85 Purchased from Newegg.com February 2010 $999.99 Also purchased 4 year extended warranty $129.98 About 2 years into owning TV I had to use my warranty. I can't remember what was wrong, but they ended up replacing the main board behind the LCD panel AND giving me a new wireless media box. Newegg did a poor job on the first two service calls sending a non-LG certified repair person. On the 3rd try they got it right. (Not bashing, just listing everything I can think of.) TV worked fine (other than the known idiosyncrasies this unit has) until July 2015. Then it started to develop thin black horizontal lines. Only in the upper 25% of the screen, and with no pattern. Just a line one day, two the next, 4-5 a few days later. TV was still usable, was headed to kids room and they were just fine with those few lines. In September of 2015, while we were watching a movie, the screen started to develop a while "ball" in the center, it spread the edges, leaving the screen totally white, and the audio still sounded great. Being a Server Administrator, I followed what I always tell people: reboot! I unplugged power from the wall. From the TV. From the Wireless Media Box. And flipped the actual switch on the TV to off. Let it all sit for 5 minutes. Upon reboot, the problem was the same. I took the TV down, and put it in the garage. It is now October 2015. Turn it on in the garage, no media box attached. Picture of the current state of the screen is attached to this post. This is without ANY HDMI signal. Just powered up. I decided to give it a little troubleshooting before throwing it out. I took the back cover off. Blew out all the dust. Carefully removed ribbon cables, cleaned them, reattached them. Picture remains the same. That is the extent of my transferable skills at this point. I think I am to the point of swapping out boards, but don't want to spend much considering the cost of a new TV. Thank you for reading this far. The reason for my post is that I am hoping someone will see that screen image and know exactly what is wrong. Thank you for your time. http://s23.postimg.org/bmeoe3p57/20151025_170525.jpg Screen http://s23.postimg.org/d6olq8mx7/20151025_170426.jpg http://s23.postimg.org/5o0v3v66j/20151025_170420.jpg http://s23.postimg.org/4n57shekr/20151025_170412.jpg http://s23.postimg.org/alefoz85n/20151025_170358.jpg all boards
