Philips LCD Power Supply Board Replacment Can't Post

Power Supply Unit Replacement problem

My old power supply unit burnt out, it still turned on but would often start smoking and burning after awhile of use. I unhooked it and ordered a new part which was an identical part down to every last part but was from a slightly different model TV. My model being a 47PFL3603D/27 and the part being from a 47PFL3603/F7.

The part number's and part types are identical. I even took pics of the two together. Is there something I may be doing wrong? I'm hooking everything up exactly how it was and even the burnt power supply board still turns the tv on.

Any help is appreciated.

Both of those models use the same power board. so chances are the replacement board is dead, They have a history of having issues with the power supply. If you bought the board used chances are the board is no good. Have you checked any of the supply voltages to see if even the standby supplies are there?

How would I go about checking them?
I was guaranteed the board was functional. If the seller is being honest, I can only assume something must have happened during shipping. Although if I could tell if something is missing, burnt out, or broke. I'd have more of an idea. Is there someway to test the board without the tv?

Ok what happens when the new board is installed and then the power cord is plugged in? Let me know what the indicator light does. Then what happens when you press power? The light will indicate error codes or wether the 12V supply is present. The power supplies can be tested directly at the wire connectors themselves but the board will need to be installed and plugged in to test supply voltages so you will need diagnosing experience. It may be best to order a board that does have a guarantee with it since your old board does power up the unit. Do you have the service manual for your set?

With the old board I get a green light on the right side of the TV from the area with the AV connections. With the new board I get no signs. I'm hooking it up in all the same spots. Is it possibly it's not receiving a good connections or a tweak or replacement ont he board that'll get a connection. Like I said the board "looks" like it's in good condition as you see in the pics.

It could be solder related but you can spot that with a magnifying glass easy enough. Have you checked the fuses on the replacement board to see if they are blown? If one is blown that can point to the circuit which has the issue. Have you also compared the back side to see if maybe a SMD diode or capacitor may have gotten knocked off during shipping and easially lost in the packaging.

I took some pictures of what appears to be some kinda rubber calk on some of the parts? Not sure if this is to protect others from the heat or if it's part of the problem of blocking off some of the power flow?

That's there to keep the components from vibrating. Manufactures do that on different spots on different boards no rhyme or reason seems like. That silicone will not be the problem.

In the last pic I notice something white on the ridge of the bigger black and yellow battery. Is that anything I should investigate?

Thats a electrical transformer which steps up voltages.

Sorry I'm not a trained tech in anyway. I'm Just attempting to save our tv and thought this forum would be of some help if I provided enough info about my situation. I didn't have any other way of describing it unless there's something that has each part of the board labeled.
I'm looking to see what my options are in either making this "new" board I got work or if I need to take it to an actual repair shop. Last resort I'll try getting my money back and ordering another new part.

ALL parts have a location (reference) number printed on the (at least) top of the board.
