RCA D52w20 on ITC222 Chassis Can't Post

Well I'll start by saying that I found this tv by the curb. I have been able to fix a few in the past. I have basic soldering skill. The television is a d52w20 and has the famous 3 blinks on the power light, no sound, no picture. I have replaced capacitors cp114, cp120, cp135, cp130, cp150, I also replaced the HOT transistor 2sc5588 and I also checked the fuses next to the flyback and re-soldered the flyback joints. This television still blinks three times when I try to turn it on.

I am running out of ideas. I read that Cl031 and Cl032 need to be re-soldered as well. I have not done this. I was hoping to get some advice or some direction to go with this before I junk the TV or take it to the repair man. Any help would be very appreciated. I hope to hear from you fellas soon. Thanks in advance for you help.

I did. The connectors from deflectiion board to signal board look good. I did order new cables though. The plugs and what not on the convergence board seem good as well. I did read that replacing cp110 might fix the problem but it wasn't obviously vented. I will replace cp110 and see what happens, but I have my doubts. If anyone has any ideas or can tell me what what else to try I will give it a shot. I was trying to avoid having to test component after component, but it looks like that's what I will end up doing. Im open to check or replace any other common failure related to the three blink issue. Thanks for your input. Keep ideas coming. Thanks again.

Was HOT transistor defective? Set has a history of needing flyback.

To be honest I didn't test the original transistor. The thermal compound was not making contact with the heat sink so I assumed the worst. I can tell u that I attempted to discharge the flyback and got nothing. I don't know if the flyback holds a charge indefinately or not.

Okay. I replaced CP110 220uf@200V. No dice. BTW radio shack sucks as far being a source of electronic components. Almost everything I have needed had to be ordered. This beginning to get frustrating.

Do you still have the transistor to test?

CRT can hold a charge, not the flyback.

Pressing on the circle with the arrow pointing down towards the TV just worked fine for me. Perhaps you're doing something wrong (or maybe they just don't like you)?Wink
