STR-58041 Reg - Checking Can't Post

My Panasonic 20" is not working, and by process of elimation I am currently blaming the STR-58041.

The set switches on, but screams, and no sound/picture. I tried a different LOPT, same thing. I pulled the STR58041 no scream.

Any suggestions welcome on how to test the STR58041 or what could be wrong with the TV

The best way to check a regulator IC, sans schematic with voltages, is to replace it. If you have access to a good DMM, you can monitor the B+ on the the collector of the HOT. It should be around 130V +/- 10V, and should stay steady as beam current changes (brightness, contrast). I always check regulation by monitoring B+ while varying the screen control on the flyback.

BLT - Thanks for the tip (once again!)

I know this might seems daft, but how come you have Novice listed under your ID? - looking through the posts you seem to be helping a lot of us.. what???? newbies I guess!? and some of your responses are very specific - well whatever, keep it up!

Thanks
