Stumped connecting universal remote to TCL

Hi All
My first post. We are urgently trying to connect a universal remote to TCL tv that is going to a veterans home in the morning. Original remote was lost sadly.
TV: TCL 55DP628
Universal Remote: Nedis TVRC2100BK
Potential curveball is the tv is in shop front display mode.
We have tried quick search mode and automatic search mode on the universal remote and tv fails to pick it up.
Any smart cookies offer advice on resolving this?
