Washed out LNXXA630 screen

Two days ago, my 6.5 year old Samsung LN46A630M1FXZA started having washed out (potentially inverted, but hard to tell) colors uniformly over the whole screen. It happened suddenly (while the TV was on) and is consistent -- power cycling and a factory reset have no effect.
This problem has been documented in a number of places, but nobody seems to post a resolution:

I'm not sure how to attach an image here, but this is the television with the Samsung built-in test pattern showing. It's barely visible, but the center of the image says "Does the problem still exist with this test pattern?"

I'm perfectly capable of swapping out the T-Con board, power board, or reseating cables, but I'd like to know what the goal is. I've re-seated most of the cables, but that hasn't done anything.
Can anyone confirm (or speculate about) the underlying issue?
