My Sony tv is connected to a sat receiver box and we are using the Hot Bird satellite. Over the past several days we have noticed a 5 inch horizontal border at thje top of the set which is lighter than the rest of the screen and a little distorted. We can only recieve satellite picture. Signal quality is about 50% and strength is about 75% which is apparently normal for our location.

kennyg, you need to determine whether your problem is signal related, or is an actual vertical deflection problem. Do you have a VCR or DVD player? If so, does the problem appear when using either of these units? If it does, it sounds like your TV is at fault. If not, you need to have your sattelite receiver serviced.
