Akai VS-A77EK cassette stuck	Can't Post

I recently purchased a used Akai VS-A77EK on eBay.

Everything seemed to be working fine initially (play, FF, RW). However, on ejecting, the cassette has lodged inside and won't come out.

The cassette is stuck at an angle. By which I mean looking through the cassette door on the front panel the left side of the cassette is positioned at a higher level than the right side.

Does anyone have any idea what might be wrong?

Something broken or misaligned on Ejector Block.

I can get the videotape to load by turning the loading belt on the underside. Once loaded all the main functions work perfectly.

However, ejecting just brings the cassette up to the same stuck position as before, where the left side is raised but the right side isn't.

Ejector Block seems to be a possible/likely cause.

I'm a novice at vcr repair (only ever changed belts before) - do I need to take off the front panel to remove the Ejector Block? I unscrewed the two screws holding it in place but wasn't able to get it out with the front panel in place.
