Service Manual LG LVC-837 VCR - or help Can't Post

Hi,
I have the LG LVC-837 VCR (with the DVD player). It has always had poor quality (murky picture, static off and on etc.)... Now it has started to "eat" VHS tapes (any). I would like to take it apart to clean it or something. It has eaten the VCR head cleaner tape as well.

I don't know how to take it apart, and would like some idea on how to access the heads.

I have tools etc.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,
Was this your reply?
"Any unfamiliar expressions/terms - try googling them."

If so, I should have added "free" Smile

Assuming VCRs from 2007 or so have the same basic design, can you recommend a Web site with diagrams displaying what should be removed to access the heads and how to clean them? Or do you have any ideas as to what would be wrong with it?
(Murky picture, static, also picture bounces around etc., sound unclear...)
This particular VCR was a lemon (from day 1)
Thanks

VXtanyaXV;.....

Once upon a time I used to work on VCRs...
Then DVDs & CDs came along & VCRs are going or went the way of 8 track players...

IF your VCR ate the VCR head cleaner tape , chances are that jts1957's answer WILL solve the problem....Wink....
See , IF it ate the cleaning tape (Usually a thicker tape than the ones you record on) then you have a more serious problem...
One or both heads are nicked off on one end or both ends acting like a mini saw...
Chewing up anything they touch....
You most likely will need new heads as cleaning will NOT fix that problem...
Since you said it was a lemon from day 1 , put it out of it's misery & cure it with the solution jts1957 gave...
Go to eBay or Craigslist & look for a new unit...
Sorry about the bad news , but sometimes life sucks....Unsure...

GOOD LUCK....Sly....

Actually after it had its “dinner” it has been okay.
I still really want to try to “examine” the inside.
I think there’s hope….
Also, I have a “Lite-On” VCR / DVD combo - unit which records and plays (or should but it never worked at all ($ shop - You get what you pay for… ))
I am sure I hooked it up wrongly or something. The power works….

Finally I own a (circa) 1981(?) VCR (Panasonic – VHS).
I can find the model number (also for the Lite-On) if there is a reason.
The Panasonic went from recording (and playing) color -> recording (and playing) only black and white -> only snow. (This was all very gradual)

My only requirement is that ONE of them works. Aside from the sound, the LG is recording without eating and the video has improved.

Never tried Craig’s list but the shipping to where I live (from the USA) is usually far more than the item.

So, Could you please tell me where I can find (free) diagrams / service manuals for VCRs?
Just generalized pictures.
Thanks!
Smile

P.S. I really came up with nothing using Google....

Unfortunately , I can't do you any further good...
I quit working on VCRs , DVDs & CD units a decade+ ago...
I did try to Google for a manual , but came up empty....Mad...
(I did find another post of yours on another website..Sly...)
I also tried my links for TV & VCR service manuals , again no luck...
It appears not many websites or people like LG or their VCRs etc...
SORRY.....Unsure....

GOOD LUCK....Sly....

Try to have a GOOD day & week...
