Sony Betamax SL-2401 will not turn on

Hello all and Merry Xmas!
I have a Sony SL-2401 Betamax VCR that until recently worked alright. The problem that I have is that it will not turn on either using the remote or pressing the on button. When I plug it in, the clock turns on. I can set the time and I can even schedule a recording time. I used to service these VCRs long time ago (when I had the service manuals) I believe it is a power supply issue. I opened it and checked the two glass fuses and both are OK.
Do I need to go find out a service manual for it or is it a simple fix?
