vcr won't record	Can't Post

Hi everyone. I'm new & hope someone can help. I have an old Magnavox mwd2206a. I'm on satellite and while I can play a recorded vhs, I can't record a show on a blank vhs. I have the tv set for channel 4 and the satellite box set for channel 4. The only cable I have in the back of the dvd/cd player w/vcr, is the red/wht/yellow connected to the back of the tv and the tv connected to the sat box with a coax cable, and of course the sat antenna. I can play discs and recorded vhs tapes but I can't record a tv show. At the risk of appearing to be a big dummy, can anyone tell me what I'm missing?

With a satellite signal connected to (satellite) set top box and the box set to the station you desire to record, feed the yellow/red/white RCA jack OUTPUT of the set top box to the matching colored LINE/AUX INPUT of the Magnavox combo (set the Magnavox combo to THIS input). Put tape in, hit record - rewind when done and play. Cool
