cartelli:..... So you're a "computer specialist" eh ???...Well , well, well... Looks like we could swap a little expertise here ??? 1st;...Here's the basics on my computer... It's a Dell GX280 SFF , with Windows XP Pro SP3 ... Reinstalling Windows is NOT an option... I'm on basic (el cheapo grande ) dial-up with NetZero as my ISP & have Internet Explorer-7 as my browser.... I have Panda , Avast , MBAM & SpyBot installed & ONLY Avast is active at ALL times... I have the latest Adobe Flash player installed... Now in reply to your post;.... you must have a virus on your computer that im sure ur aware of. maybe you dont have the codec needed to play the video file, or maybe your computer is screwed There is NO virus on my computer.... It has been checked & checked , rechecked again with none found... As you see above , I have Avast... If you go to a bad website , Avast warns you IMMEDIATELY & won't allow the webpage to load up... Does AVG or Panda do that , I don't think so.... Avast IS updated DAILY.... Does AVG or Panda do that ???...I think not.... I have 2 Dell's & AVG creates problems on both units... So adios AVG..... Panda seems to be doing nada... It just sits there taking up space.... I'm seriously thinking of getting rid of it.... IMHO , Avast IS the BEST out there.....PERIOD....& it's FREE..... Avast checks your email , warns you about bad websites , updates daily & does a THOROUGH scan for anything that slips thru.... What more could you ask for ??? So much for viruses , etc.... Now,for codecs:.... I have Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX with Adobe Flash Player 10 Plugin..... Your 1st little movie played just fine on this computer , albeit that movie was considerably shorter in length.... My computer has a "glitch" of some sort & hopefully is NOT screwed... if it pleases you i can upload the file to youtube so maybe it will load for you, if i were you id suggest using IE I have Speedbit Video Accelerator , so that may be worth a shot... Please keep the video at Photobucket there also , just in case.... and get the abode shockwave and also the other plugins for video that run on browsers I need help with this part...."abode" is Spanish for "home"....si.... If you meant "Adobe" Shockwave , I think that Adobe Flash Player covers that...Am I right ????..... If not , I'll need help with that & the plugins you mentioned... FINALLY:..... THIS;==> going from easiest to hardest-- 1. reboot your computer destroying the problem that exsistes. 2.disk cleanup -- download ccleaner and clean your registry 3. download panda (best antivirus software) its not free, but i downloaded it via torrent :) 4. throw your computer out the window :) Does not make you a computer specialist.... #1 does NOT get rid of any viruses , trojans or malware of ANY kind.... #2 ..I have CCleaner & use it EVERY time I turn my computer off... I do NOT mess with the registry... 99.9% of computer techs will tell you NOT to tamper with the registry... You could cause irrepairable harm to your computer.... Further , you are NOT cleaning your registry , you are removing temporary files you got while on the net.... #3 we covered already.... #4 aint gonna happen........ FINALLY , With ALL due respect, you have to show me a heck of a lot more computer stuff before I would say you are a "specialist"... I am currently involved with a computer tech assist website.... We have been thru this computer from one end to "almost" the other... It is a "stupid" little agravating problem that can & will hopefully be fixed soon.... just my 2 cents on your problem :) NO OFFENSE , but one of us owes the other 2 cents........ jts1957;.... A simple reply to your post:.... Later....Ron.M......... Veteran & Retired TV technician
