Re: [mel] Bridge rectifier putting out approx 170VDC? [In reply to] Can't Post

If memory serves I think you'll find the part labeled:

TZ

1167-01

xxx

TZ is a "manufacturer's logo"
1167-01 is all the Zenith part number that would fit (the 121- is to be inferred onto the beginning of this number).
xxx would be date code when used.

Many thanks to Ron and mel for their suggestions. I ordered one of each just in case. I'll post my results once I get them in and install one.

Any updates you'd care to share with us ???
Sure would appreciate it....
I may have another thing for you to check that could be the problem...Smile...

Well... I tossed in an NTE2353 and it still does the same thing. As soon as I turn it on I hear the relays click on but then off immediately. :(

ajcrm125;....

I have a couple of other tests I'd like you to run before anybody condems the flyback...
Are you up for that ???
Start with #1;...
The base of the HOT (Horiz Output Transistor) is connected to T3205 , the horiz driver transfomer...
On the primary side of that transformer is Q3206 , the driver transistor...
You'll have to be quick with this test as the TV will turn off quickly & we/I need a reading...
Hook your meter up to the collector pin of Q3206 or the + of CX3274...
Set your meter to + dc volts on a range to read about 15~25 vdc...
Turn the TV on & see if you get a reading....
Please post results...
Did the replacement NTE2353 get warm or hot before the TV turned of ???

Re: [Ron.M] Bridge rectifier putting out approx 170VDC? [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Ron,
Man I've just been swamped with so many other projects I haven't gotten time to get back to this. And it doesn't look like I'm going to have any more time in the near future. Is it possible to test/repair the chassis outside of the TV?

If so.. would it be possible to send the chassis to you for repair? (depending on the price)

Lemme know...

Well I found a cheap flyback online so I replaced it (just in case). No such luck. Still clicks on and then off immediately. :(
