brownboi;..... OK...Here we go..... IF you have ANY problem understanding ANY of my instructions , STOP & post & I'll get back to help you thru it....OK.....THANKS... We are going to read DC volts on the Vertical out IC.... There's 2 ways we can do this... Either from the top of the chassis OR the bottom of the "D" board... I'll give you both ways & you can decide which is easier for you to do.... Top side first... First you have to pull the chassis out from the cabinet... There are 4 screws that you need to remove to slide the chassis back so you can get at the Vertical out IC.... See pix below;=>... On the "D" board (on the left side of the chassis) about center rear you will see an aluminum heat sink with fins on it.... On the rear side of it is IC1501 , that's the vertical out IC.... In the pix below , the #1 pin is marked , the #2 pin is marked... Notice that the #1 pin is bent toward the rear of the TV... The next pin (#2) goes straight down thru the board..... They are staggered & alternately bent.... You will need to get to pins #2 , 4 , & 6.... Set your meter to read DC volts... Volts are as follows; Pin #2= +15 vdc pin #4= -15 vdc Pin #6= +15 vdc Use the tuner case for your ground connection.... Use the sharp point of your probe IF you have a SAFE access to the pins... You may not have enough clearance to get your meter probe safely past the others as they are ALL behind the bent pins.... IF you cant do it that way , heres plan "B"..... Pull the chassis out as you did for above.... You will have to do step #1 (in the circle) & free some wiring up so you can tilt the chassis up.... When you've gotten enough wiring freed up , SLOWLY & CAUTIOUSLY tip the chaassis up so you have access to the bottom covers as shown.... Remove ONLY the cover that gives you access to the Vertical Out IC.... Remember where pin #2 is & take readings from all 3 pins & post results.... Use care as there are some high voltage sources that can zap you... Whether you do it using the first method or plan "B" , leave the chassis as is.... There's more tests coming.... Post back with your readings......THANKS.... Later...Ron.M.... Veteran & Retired TV technician
