Re: [chirath] sony kv 2197 m3 [In reply to] Can't Post

How did you "check" the transistors"? I don't have a schematic for that specific model but a review of similar models shows a 3300 ohm resistor off of the green cathode to the green output transistor (Q702?) with a 15k 2watt resistor (R706?) to the 200v power supply for all three. If the short were in the CRT, the voltage drop would not exist with the CRT board unplugged from the CRT. I suspect that the green out transistor is leaky and creating a voltage drain to the green cathode. Or perhaps the GREEN BACKGROUND and/or GREEN DRIVE pots are misadjusted.

mel;..

GOOD LUCK with translating his replies...
I was going in that same direction till he threw a curve at me...
That's when I threw in the towel....
I'll be watching to see if you get ANY consistent replies...

IF you want the manual , I'll be happy to PM you the link for download...
Let me know...

That Chassis does NOT have ANY Background OR Drive pots...
The grey scale is done in the Factory Menu...
I was looking at possibly the Transistor or the Demod Jungle IC...

Mel
as i couldent find the servce manual i have downloaded the similar model and it got 6.8K resistors for KG,KR,KB. so remember it ist 2.2k or 3.3K resistor.
I have tested all the transistors via Ohm meter and all readings were ok. if i replace KG with KR the the KG transistor collector voltage will go 140 and KR become 22V

also . if i disconnect KB,KR and leve the KG conencted, the picture not comming and retrace lines comes too. if i short the KG to earch very poor colour and not very bright compaire with KB, and KR.
this TV was sent for repair shop some times ago and they have told the Tube is faulty

jts1957;.....

Oh...OK....

This part threw me off course...

Quote
I have tested all the transistors via Ohm meter and all readings were ok.

Along with this;....

Quote
if i short the KG to earch very poor colour and not very bright compaire with KB, and KR.

Seems to be contradictory info ....
IF KG is OK , shouldn't it be the same as KR & KB ????
UNLESS the green gun is ALSO bad , but that would contradict earlier statements/info given by "Chirath"...

Now we have this;....

Quote
if i replace KG with KR the the KG transistor collector voltage will go 140 and KR become 22V

Then you said....

In Reply To
Bad transistor now at "KR."

& I tend to agree....

Then he said....

Quote
this TV was sent for repair shop some times ago and they have told the Tube is faulty

Which TOTALLY disagrees with my thinking & apparently yours also....

A Margarita in the morning IS looking to be a REALLLLY GOOOD idea !!!!

Re: [jts1957] sony kv 2197 m3 [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi JTS
I mean replacing KR with KG is disconnect KG and KR copper paths gose to tube via 3.3K resistor on the CRT PCB
disconnect 2 resistors (KG, KR) and using the wire solder KR 3.3K to to KG input on CRT. same way KG 3.3k resistor out to KR gun.
so if the KG transistor is bad it should not increase the voltage in to 140v coz its now feed to KR gun .so orginally KR was 140v but after chaging the gun to KG it should have same voltage. but now it had dropped to 22v.
i also disconnect KG,KR ad KB feeds and swith on the set. and tested voltages. the KB and KR got 200v i dont know how they got 200v because no input , but KG is 2V.
thank

Re: [chirath] sony kv 2197 m3 [In reply to] Can't Post

With EVERYTHING is connected as ye old manufacturer intended ...

If all three cathode voltages are near 140v (at the cathode pins on the board) WITH THE CRT BOARD/SOCKET UNPLUGGED and floating - it points to a CRT problem.
If any one cathode voltage is only 22v (at the cathode pins on the board) WITH THE CRT BOARD/SOCKET UNPLUGGED and floating - it points to a Circuitry problem.

English is my FIRST & ONLY language....
IF I were to go to Sri Lanka , I WOULD learn YOUR language in order to get along there & NOT expect YOU to learn MINE...
Since I'm NOT in Sri Lanka & YOU ARE posting in MY country , I EXPECT YOU to LEARN MY language...
IF you don't learn MY language OR REFUSE to , then expect problems explaining things to "Foreigners"...

Testing transistors with an ohmeter will not always provide an accurate answer. It is not that difficult nor expensive to just replace it. I'm still not sure if you told us what the KG voltage is with the CRT board unplugged from the CRT.
